19-Day Luxury Cruise

Top-level luxury cruise ships are a rare sight in the Port of Los Angeles, which makes the October arrival of Seabourn Sojourn something of a special occasion. Hop aboard in L.A. and take a 19-day cruise (Oct. 16–Nov. 4) down the coast of Mexico and Central America, through the Panama Canal, and up the Caribbean to Miami.

Silicon Valley Treehouse Escape

Canyon Ranch—the wellness brand that invented the modern-day luxury spa resort back in 1979—is coming to Silicon Valley. Opening this fall, Canyon Ranch Wellness Retreat Woodside is set among the towering redwoods about a half hour outside of Palo Alto. A game changer for the brand, the property will feature more upscale accommodations (including luxury treehouses set high among the branches) as well as revamped fitness, spa, and culinary programs.

Antarctica Yacht Adventure

Visiting Antarctica usually means joining a large cruise ship or spending handsomely on a private charter. This fall, the expedition company Pelorus is bridging the gap, offering single cabins on its 254-foot superyacht Legend. Running from December 6–13 and 13–20, the trips are priced at $55,000 per cabin, or one-tenth the cost of a charter.

Stockholm Festivals

Sports, music, and monsters are converging on Stockholm this October, with three contiguous events in the Swedish capital. Base yourself at the classic Grand Hôtel Stockholm or cozy Ett Hem, and split your time between the Stockholm Jazz Festival (Oct. 11–20), Intrum Stockholm Open ATP Tour event (14–20), and horror-and-sci-fi festival Monsters of Film (14–20).

Kyoto Hideaway

Kyoto is the next destination for luxury hotel standard-bearer Aman, and, per usual, the brand is doing things differently. Opening in November on an 80-acre forested site at the foot of Mount Daimonji-yama, Aman Kyoto will be the secret hideaway of the season, with traditional onsen baths, acres of gardens, and just 24 suites, pavilions, and villas.

Private-Island Getaway

Known for its A-list all-weekend parties, Kamalame Cay now has something new for its VIP guests. Launched in July, two new cottages at the Bahamas private-island resort are bringing extra privacy and pedigree to the beach. The Rock House is an homage to regular guest David Rockefeller, while Hummingbird is for those who travel with company, featuring three bedrooms, a loft, and plenty of secluded outdoor space.
